The OLA Papiri Community came into existence in 1978 due to the need for health care service.

The enormous health needs of the people in this area motivated the OLA sisters and the SMA Fathers to establish a clinic despite the challenges such as lack of social amenities (pipe borne water, electricity, no network, poor access roads etc.) Over 30 years the SMA (Society of African Mission) and the Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles have worked tirelessly with the Kambaris, the Fulanis and the Hausas.

Some sisters work in the clinic as well as engage in mobile outreach programme in villages within Borgu Emirate.
